Thinking of You Card

I am in need of card to send a friend because she just learned her mom had cancer. I needed a little something just to write a personal message in and send to let her know I am thinking of her and hers.

It is colored with Copic Markers. Fiber (forgot what you call it but it reminds me of a potato sack) was cut then frayed behind the mat. I am not sure which punch was used to do the scallop or oval as they were done before I made this card. Forgot to look at the stamp but it is just a "Thinking of you" clear stamp.

Scrapbook Place and Scrapbook Stamp Society Winner of the Blog Hop

Sorry I am posting this late. Yesterday was such a weird day for me. First off it started with a bang and by that I mean a nasty thunderstorm. I had to take my DIL and the Grandbaby to the hospital for their post-op. That went well and her staples came out. As far as the baby, he left the hospital weighting 4 lbs. He was born 4lbs. 4 oz. but lost the 4 oz. at the hospital before he was discharged. Well, he now weights a whopping 4 lbs. 5 oz. We are so thrilled he is doing so well. I left there and dropped them home only to realize I left my glasses in the diaper bag so I had to go get them. We were under a severe thunderstorm watch for many hours but nothing happened. Finally gave up with that and figured we can take a shower and get ready for bed only to find there is no hot water. Well, with no shower and bed I figured I can go make some chocolate chip cookies. I know I had a recipe and I followed it but the cookies came out horrible. They tasted like a short bread cookie with some chocolate chips in it. It wasn't what I wanted. I was in the mood for the toll-house cookies. After that I gave up and took my sleeping pill and went to bed only the pill didn't work (sometimes happens) so I took another one and I am still wide awake. Normally I wouldn't even be able to walk. I would just want sleep. It has been a very strange day and night for sure.
But now to the good part, the winner of the blog hop is.....#6

Stampin Up Card

Here is a cute card I made using stampin up products. It was easy and fast yet doesn't look too plain. I tend to need some fast and easy cards because birthdays always seem to sneak up on me.   I have a lot of shadows in it since it is dimensional but just ignore them.

Inside is a pop out which is hard to tell from the scan but that box pops out at you.

I hope you like it.

Scrapbook Place and Scrapbook StampSociety Blog Hop

Welcome to the first ever blog hop combining Scrapbook Place and Scrapbook Stamp Society...and I have a huge surprise!! If you hopped here from Carolyn's blog then you are in the right place. The hop begins at Scrapbook Place or if you lost your way you can look below at the hop order.

This hop has wonderful designers from the Scrapbook Place using amazing images from artists of  Scrapbook Stamp Society to create some delightful cards for your enjoyment.  Each design team member has used an image from Scrapbook Stamp Society in their creations.

For my card I used Morgan Fitzsimons Fairy #3.

Inside the card simply says " Missing You" so there is a nice size area to write a personal message.

I used Copic Markers to color this and even learned a few new techniques. The main thing I learned is how to add pleats and show movement in the fabric of her dress. (Click here to see the original stamp.) I found it quite the challenge. The other thing I wanted to do was have her wings look very soft and delicate with colors not too harsh but enough to 'get noticed'. I am happy with the way these turned out but I am not happy with my scanner because the image lost so much. I wish you could see how the colors of the wings fade into each other. I used a mask for the clouds in the sky and I never did a tree, couldn't even find how to make bark so for a first attempt I guess I am ok with it although it is my least favorite result in the image. I just don't think it does the stamp any justice. I used 2-3 colors for each flower and leaf (some tip to tip blending). I also added Stampin Up Pearls to the center of the small flowers. I hope you like it.

I must say I am so disappointed in my scanner. This card is very sharp looking in person and it is so dull in this scan. It washed out the colors that blend into each other and in the past I always blamed the lousy results I got on my laptop. Now I have a brand new super duper suppose to be great for images computer that cost an arm and a leg and I get the same results.....tells me the computer wasn't the problem. I guess I will have to save my pennies again and this time buy a better scanner, one with a large format.

Please leave a comment on each blog in the hop.  There's a prize today from Scrapbook Stamp Society, that will given to a winner selected at random chosen on Sunday afternoon.  The winner will be announced and posted both on the Scrapbook Stamp Society blog and the Scrapbook Place blog.  Good Luck everyone!

....and now for the huge surprise.

Welcome the newest member of my family!

Your Scrapbook Place Patriotic Blog Hop

It's that time of year when watermelons are chillin', grills are heating up, firecrackers are ready to light, and Americans celebrate with "Star-spangled happiness and banner waves of pride" (Cherishe Archer)!
Welcome to Your Scrapbook Place Blog Patriotic Blog Hop! The theme is love of America and the color RED. If you're coming here from Shannon's Blog, you are on the right path. If you lose your way, you can start fresh at Your Scrapbook Place.
Designers are using a special image from one of their own, Pammie Lehto.

Today I made this card in hopes of capturing the picnics, firecrackers, and the love of America and the celebration of Independence (4th of July).

Recipe:
Digi Image by Pammie Lehto
Cardstock - Coordination and Prism
Copic Markers
Copic Opaque White
Copic Multiliner
Mrs. Grossman's Stickers (these fireworks really shimmer!)
Pop Dots
Tombow glue runner

I printed the image twice and used one to cut out some of the flowers so I could pop them in front giving a more dimensional look.

Copic colors used are: R24, R27, R29, B04, B05, B29, Y13 Y19, YG09, YG67, G05, G09, E71, E59, E71, E77, E89, W1, W3, C3.

One lucky hopper will win this digi, as well as a patriotic-themed Goody Bag!
Each participating designer is in the running for prizes, too, so leave a little love at each blog along the way.
Now off you go to your next blog which is Anna's Scrappening.
