Purple Comfort

(If you're looking for the Spring Blog Hop Winner see the previous post.)

After seeing the great designs and having Sher tell me about Sweet Pea Stamps (and seeing Holley's cards using them) I checked out their site and you know I just had to buy some. This card was done with Ching- Chou Kuik's Purple Comfort. I don't own a lot of Copics yet so coloring is still a challenge (and I don't have purple) but I just love the image. I thought it would make a nice get well card.

Recipe:
Cardstock (white) Georgia Pacific
Cardstock (green and blue) from shelf at Michael's or JoAnn's
Printed Paper I was given so I don't know where it came from
Sentiments - Stampin Up
Punches used - Stampin Up
Copic Markers
Memento Ink - Tuxido Black and Bahamma Blue

Spring Blog Hop Winner!!!

Thank you all for your comments. I had a busy weekend so I did not reply to them but I want you to know I read them all. I just want to clarify that the Cricut cartridge 50 States does not have the wrong state for CT but the shape they have for it is wrong. They have it as coming to a point with a straight lines and that isn't how it is shaped. This image below was cut from that cartridge.

I know you can't see the whole thing but here is what the state is shaped like.
Note the lower left that hangs down....no straight lines and no point.

I don't see what the big deal is where Cricut can't come as close to a state shape as I can when they have software designers and all kinds of experts and little old me took years to start a blog because I didn't know how to post. Well, enough about them. I just wanted to clarify it wasn't the wrong state.

Now what you have been waiting for.....how I picked the winner and who it is. I know some people didn't answer the question, some didn't want to be included in the prize, some left more than one comment. This is how I do it. I count every comment thus 40 & 19 and put 59 in. What number it spits out I check to make sure the person has answered and don't have multiple posts. (Those with multiple posts get the number of their first post....the second one don't count so they do not get a better chance than any one else. I try and keep this fair as possible.) If that number did not answer the question or want to be included or it was the second post of a person, I do it again until I get a person who did everything (or was their first post). So with all that explained, the winner is....

Congratulations to KellyG !!!

We’ll be hopping all weekend , March 24th and 25th to welcome spring!

The blog hop officially ends on Sunday March 25th at 11pm CST.

Some Fiskateers are offering sur-prizes…check their directions carefully to participate.

For today's project I thought about what I am doing this spring. I guess we all get spring fever and really want to go out and get away. It is a time of travel for many after being indoors all winter long so I made another card. This one is made with an ATC I made of my state. I will be having a friend from one of my groups come up to CT in May so I would like to give her a nice welcome card. If she wants to, she could take the ATC off the card later and scrap her pages of the trip and use the ATC as an embellishment. Totally up to her but that was the idea behind doing a card this way. I am so looking forward to her visit. We are going to be going to ME for a few days to a crop. Yep, can you imagine traveling that far to a crop?

Recipe:
White Cardstock - Georgia Pacific
Background paper- Unknown
Sizzix Embossing Folder
Sanding block
Computer for "Welcome to"
Fiskars Budding Flower Corner Punch
CT ATC
(ATC was made with an SVG I made of my state because the one on the State Cartridge is wrong however I did use it for the bird and flower and such.)

(See the post below for picture of blog candy.)

For another chance to win the blog candy, all you have to do is....
1. Be a follower
2. Leave me a comment and tell me the furthest you travelled to a crop.

Be sure you leave a way for me to contact you if you win!

Thanks for stopping by and I sure hope you enjoyed the hop. The winner will be announced on Monday.

Now make like a bunny and hop on over to Ladydoc Karen 2858.

You ever find you need a card in a hurry? I do every once in awhile. I also noticed on many sites the thing is "fast and simple" which is fine with me sometimes. So that is what I thought I'd do, fast and simple yet nice....and with Fiskars products, it is oh so easy.  So when I think of spring I think of birth.  No matter if it is a plant poking through the ground or the birth of the animals. So for my project I did a fast and simple birthday card. (Another think I love about the background stamp is that if I wanted I could have colored in the bigger fonts to match the cupcake paper. It would have added a splash of color but I did say simple & fast so....)

Inside sentiments

Recipe:
White Cardstock - Georgia Pacific
Orange Cardstock- Bazzill
Punch - Fiskars Border Punch "Cupcakes"
Stamp, background - Fiskars Continuous Stamp Wheel with Birthday Stamp
Stamp, cupcake & inside sentiments - Fiskars "It's Your Day"
Ink - Memento Tuxido Black
Fiskars Crimper (candle)
Copic Markers

And what is a blog hop without candy???? How about a chance to win your own set of Fiskars Stamps? Want to know how? That is simple and fast too, just....

1. Be a follower of my blog
2. Leave me a comment telling me what you think of when you think of spring.

Make sure I have a way to contact you if you are the winner.

Me, I also think of all the yummy stuff to eat and drink that we don't do so much during the winter but more so during the warmer months of spring/summer. Like sun tea with fresh mint sprigs picked from my own plants. Sitting at the picnic table or on the patio sipping it and enjoying the day. So I picked this stamp set for you.

Thanks for stopping by & don't forget to stop back tomorrow for another chance to win. The winner will be announced on Monday.

First Necklace I Made

Do you still have your first paper craft project? How about sewing project? Any other projects? I don't have my first sewing project. That was a skirt I made in school (and yes, I really did wear it). I don't have the latch hook rug or the embrodered wall hanging either but I do have the first necklace I made.

This is my first beaded necklace. The clasp is the kitten stretched out with the ball of yarn between its front paws. The charm is the kitten on its back with the ball of yarn between all four paws. The beads are long glass slender beads (much like tiny spaghetti beads) that are facet cut so they shine as if they were diamonds with little tiny clear seed beads in between them. The charm and clasp are silver.

My Attempt at Tim Holtz Style LO

Being a Liftateer at Fistateers we lift all styles of LO and we lifted Jean 7358 which was a LO that reminded me a little of Tim Holtz style so I did the only picture (my husband) of our 4th wedding anniversary (back in Dec.). Everything on this page means something to us. Such as the Mockingjay from the books in the Hunger Game Series. That was what I was reading. The butterfly, we went to Magic Wings in MA for our get-a-way and my DH didn't think he would like it but he ended up really enjoying himself. Man with the umbrella, the weather when we were married was not nice. We thought we would have to put off the wedding....and so on.

The recipe is going to be a problem as there are so many different techniques used but I'll give it a try.

The background paper and newspaper print was from my stash and there is no name on it.
Cardstock is Georgia-Pacific
Black cardstock is from the shelf at JoAnn's
Heart is really a tile for the bathroom
Lace is from my stash
Stamps used are mostly Tim Holtz but I know I used others too.
Ink used are Distressed Ink (different colors were used), Stampin Up (White), Memento (Tuxedo Black), Archival (Black), Alcohol Ink (Current)
Tim Holts - Spinner and Fragment
Button
Baker's Twine
Wire
White Gel Pen (for the "4 years")
Wedding Rings Embellishments (don't know the name but got them at JoAnn's)
Molding Clay
Clear UTE
Black UTE
Perfect Medium
Glossy Accents
Packing Tape
Flower (Petaloo)
Stampin Up Gear Punch
H2O
Shimmer Mist
Tag (Ranger)
Hole Punch
Pop Dots (Reg. and 3D)
Glue Runner (Elmer's)
Cricut and SCAL (to cut Mockingjay)
SVG (Mockingjay)

Techniques:

Transferred image on fragment.
Stamped Butterfly image on piece of paper using Archival Black. Give it time to dry. Take a piece of packing tape and stick it over the image. I used my bone folder to make sure there were no bubbles and it was really stuck down. Then I dipped it in a bowl of warm water until the paper was really wet and started rubbing the paper. I had to dip it several times and work the paper off. Just kept rubbing it until it all came off leaving only the image in the tape. The warm water make the tape tacky so it is easy to stick to the fragment. Then I used my craft knife to cut off the extra tape and covered with Glossy Accents. Let dry overnight.

Make a coin embellishment.

I took the molding clay and mixed it per the directions on the package. I stuck the coin in it and let it dry (really quick drying) then I removed the coin. I used my Melting Pot to melt some clear UTE and poured it into the mold of the coin. Gave it a few minutes to cool and popped it out. Instant coin embellishment! I used some Alcohol (Current) Ink to color.

Tag

I cut a piece of off white paper to cover the tag using the tag as a template and a hole punch to make the hole. (Do not glue onto tag until the end). I used a wet H2O to "paint" my stamp of the flower (red on top and green for stem and leaves) and stamped the tag. Then I used the note stamp and Archival Ink (black) to stamp the notes across the tag. Then I sprayed a somewhat even coat of Shimmer Mist on the tag. When it was completely dry I glued it on my tag and used Baker's Twine.

Book

I used two pieces of black foam cut to the size I wanted my book. I took two pieces of black cardstock and wrapped it around each piece of foam twice. I glued it down flat (butted up next to each other) really good and flat where the spine of the book would be and used dimensional pop dots on the ends of the book. Using the white Stampin Up ink I stamped my image and sentiments. I also used the white gel pen to write what I didn't have in stamps. I used pop dots to stick the rings to the page.

Gears

The gears are a Stampin Up Punch. I punched them out in white cardstock. I used the Tim Holts Blending Tool and some Distressed Ink (Old Paper)  to color them. I kept one to Pop by gluing it on a button and then on some sort of metal round thing. I am sorry but I really don't know what this is or even if it is scrapbook related. It is metal and round with a pretty edge so I used it. It has been in my room forever and I don't know if someone gave them to me or they came off of something. Any ways, It would look just as neat without it as you really can't see it anyways unless you look at an angle.

Hunger Games MockingJay

I made a SVG of the MockingJay and cut it out on my Cricut using SCAL. I used black UTE over the whole thing and then put a coat of Glossy Accents over the whole thing. Let dry over night.
